Waverley Gymnasts Shine at 2026 Metro South Regional Championships

Level 3

Our Level 3 gymnasts produced a fantastic day of competition, with beautiful performances across all four apparatus.

Floor was a particular highlight, with the girls showing lovely artistry, control and presentation throughout their routines. There was also plenty to be proud of across the other events, including powerful vaults, controlled beam routines and quality work on bars.

It was an outstanding result for Waverley Red, who were crowned Metro South Regional Champions, finishing 1st overall as well as taking 1st place on Vault and Floor and 2nd place on Bars and Beam.

Waverley Blue also put together a strong competition to finish 4th overall, including 3rd-place finishes on both Beam and Floor.

Level 4

Our Level 4 gymnasts delivered plenty to be proud of throughout their Metro South competition.

The girls began strongly on Vault, demonstrating tight body shapes and great amplitude through their second flight phase. Their hard work on shaping also came through clearly on Bars, with more defined positions and greater body tension throughout their routines.

Beam brought a mixture of confident routines and a few challenging moments, but the girls showed great resilience in recovering and continuing to compete strongly. They then finished on a high with some beautiful Floor routines, showing powerful rebounds, controlled landings and confident performances.

Waverley Red capped off the competition with an excellent 2nd-place overall team finish, including 2nd on both Vault and Floor and 3rd on Bars.

Level 5

Our Level 5 gymnasts finished the Metro South Regional Championships in impressive fashion, continuing the strong improvement they have demonstrated across each competition this season.

The girls opened on Vault with strong, powerful work through the table before carrying their confidence onto Bars, where they produced eight hit routines. Beam featured many confidently held handstands, before the group finished strongly on Floor with beautiful artistry, leaps and jumps.

There were some exceptional individual results across both the Under and Over divisions, while Waverley Red were crowned Metro South Regional Champions with 1st place overall.

The group will now turn its attention towards National Clubs Carnival and the Victorian Championships in the coming weeks.

Level 7

Our Level 7 gymnasts kicked off the Metro South Regional Championships with an outstanding night of competition.

The improvement the group has made since the beginning of the season was evident across all four apparatus, but just as impressive was the way the girls supported one another throughout the competition – cheering each other on, celebrating successes and competing as a true team.

They opened strongly on Vault before producing plenty of hit handstands and composed routines on Bars. Their growing consistency was evident on Beam, with many strong routines, before they finished the night with powerful tumbling and impressive leap lines on Floor.

It was a brilliant team result, with Waverley Red finishing 1st overall and Waverley Blue taking 2nd, giving Waverley the top two positions in the team standings.

Congratulations to all of our gymnasts on a fantastic Metro South Regional Championships. From the individual achievements and team podiums to the improvement, resilience and support shown throughout the weekend, there was plenty for the Waverley community to be proud of.

A huge thank you also goes to our coaches for the work that has gone into preparing and supporting the girls throughout the season, and to everyone who came along to cheer them on.
