Physiotherapy
Our highly qualified and experienced physiotherapists offer on-site treatment at WGC every Tuesday and Friday in our well-equipped professional treatment rooms led by renowned Sports Physiotherapist Specialist - Jenni Candler.
Our Physiotherapy service delivers immediate and ongoing support to athletes, while also prioritising prevention through comprehensive annual screenings that strengthen prehab practices within the gym. Appointments can be accessed by al WGC gymnasts and their families by contacting our Membership team at the front desk or on 9887 9611.
Gymnast Wellness and Recovery Centre
Our world-class Gymnast Wellness and Recovery Centre supports athlete performance, recovery, and overall well-being. This room features two state-of-the-art massage chairs delivering Myotherapy, as well as four hot and cold plunge pools to support recovery and physical readiness.
Our senior and developing athletes follow a structured recovery room schedule, seamlessly integrated with their individual rehabilitation programs, ensuring they receive the optimal support and resources required to perform at their absolute best. This includes rotating through customised massage cycles, hot and cold plunges, or their own tailored rehabilitation/prehabilitation programs.
Strength and Conditioning
We partner with experienced Strength and Conditioning coaches from ACE Performance to deliver a progressive, structured S&C program for our squad gymnasts aged 11 years and above. We are very fortunate to be able to deliver our S&C program in Monash’s new, state of the art fitness studio, equipped with professional-grade weight machines and training facilities.
Strength and conditioning is an essential component of competitive gymnastic preparation, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Our S&C coaches adopt a long-term athlete development approach, which ensures training is appropriate for each gymnast’s age stage of growth and development.
Pilates
Our physiotherapists hold specialist accreditation and training enabling them to deliver weekly Pilates sessions (both reformer and non-reformer) for gymnasts in our Development, National, and International squads.
Pilates focuses on developing core strength, flexibility and overall conditioning to provide exceptional supplementary support to gymnastics training. It is incorporated into training for all gymnasts in Development 2 and higher. These sessions guide athletes through a range of movements that strengthen stabilising muscles and deepen athlete understanding of correct body alignment and activation.
Nutrition
Waverley is proud to have a longstanding partnership with advanced Sports Dietician Helen Duong, who delivers specialised nutritional services and guidance tailored to the requirements of competitive gymnastics.
Our tailored nutrition curriculum features both theoretical and practical sessions for our squad gymnasts and families, enhancing health literacy and educating our athletes and their families on how to fuel effectively to meet energy needs, recovery and peak performance in training/competition as well as for lifelong health. Helen also provides individual consultations when requested by families.
Mindset Coaching
Waverley provides access to mindset coaching and sports performance psychology services, supporting gymnasts in developing resilience, confidence and high-performance mindsets.
Victorian Institute of Sport
The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) is Victoria’s state recognised high-performance sport institute. WGC has a number of gymnasts holding VIS scholarships, and we collaborate with the VIS to assist these gymnasts access free physiotherapy, myotherapy, nutritionists and strength and conditioning to support their training.
In addition, VIS provides holistic wellbeing and life management support including career advice, life skills development and mental health/wellbeing support.
