This week, our club proudly celebrated a milestone that represents dedication, artistry and a lasting legacy. We officially unveiled the Grace Yang Ballet and Dance Studio, commemorating 30 years of outstanding service by Grace Yang and recognising her extraordinary contribution to our club.

Grace’s impact at Waverley extends far beyond her role as Head of Ballet. She works with every gymnast in our competitive stream, from Foundation levels through to Senior International athletes, playing a vital role in shaping both their technical development and performance quality. Her influence is felt through all aspects of our program and has played a great role in the world class success of Waverley athletes at multiple Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championship successes.

The strength, precision, musicality and confidence seen in our athletes year after year are a direct reflection of Grace’s influence.

Grace brings with her an exceptional professional background, having danced with the Beijing Institute of Dance and performed leading roles with the Hebei Province Opera and Ballet Theatre. Her career includes significant competitive success, with two provincial gold medals and a bronze at China’s National Dance Championships. Since joining our club, Grace has brought this world-class experience into the gym, raising the standard of artistry across our entire program.

For 30 years, Grace has been a major contributor to the ongoing success of our competitive athletes, ensuring ballet and dance remain foundational elements of their training. She is known for her passion, drive and high expectations, balanced by an engaging and supportive teaching style. Her classes are highly technical, yet fun and inspiring, helping gymnasts build not only strong fundamentals but also confidence, performance quality and pride in their work.

Under Grace’s guidance, our athletes learn much more than choreography. They develop discipline, body awareness, musicality and artistry, skills that support them throughout their gymnastics careers and beyond. Parents, coaches and athletes alike recognise her ability to challenge individuals to achieve their best while fostering a positive and motivating environment.

Naming the ballet and dance studio in Grace’s honour is a fitting tribute to three decades of unwavering dedication and impact. The Grace Yang Ballet and Dance Studio will stand as a constant reminder of the standards, commitment and passion that define our club, and of the remarkable legacy of Grace for the past 30 years and the many years to come.

Thank you, Grace, for everything you have given to our athletes, our program and our community.
