Congratulations to Waverley gymnasts Emily Whitehead and Romi Brown on their recent success at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham. We are immensely proud of their efforts at the Games, both from a performance perspective and a sportsmanship perspective!

This was Emily's second Commonwealth games and she returned as the defending Bronze medallist on Vault after her success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Emily had fantastic success qualifying for the All-Around, Vault and Floor Finals. We are so proud of Emily who showed outstanding resilience and great sportmanship throughout her Commonwealth Games campaign. Emily Whitehead won the Bronze medal in Floor finals with a score of 13.000!! Emily's floor routine was also selected as Princess Charlotte's favourite floor routine of the day! Waverley royalty meets British royalty!

Romi Brown was also selected onto her first Commonwealth Games team where she qualified for the Floor Final. Romi placed in 8th place for Floor after unfortunately falling after one of her tumble lines. Romi had a beautiful bars routine during the qualifying round! Despite scoring a 13.300 in Bars, Romi did not qualify for the Bars Final due to only a maximum of 2 athletes per country being allowed to compete. We were incredibly impressed by Romi's bars however and she showcased a beautifully clean routine! We can't wait to watch Romi compete at the next Commonwealth Games.

Both gymnasts were integral members of the Australian Team who achieved a sensational Silver place with a score of 158.00!!  It was neck-on-neck with England until the final rotation until England finished with strong vault performances to consolidate a score of 161.100. We are so incredibly impressed by our Australian gymnasts!

Congratulations to Emily Whitehead, Romi Brown, Georgia Godwin (All-Around Champion!), Breanna Scott, Kate McDonald and Macy Pegoli (traveling reserve) on their success at this year's Commonwealth Games!
